REPRESENTATION ON HOSPITAL BOARD

Dear Mr. Freeman:

With further reference to our telephone conversation of today
and your letter of January 28th regarding the appointment of

a representative of the City of Port Coquitlam on the Board of
Management of Saint Mary's Hospital, I wish to advise that,
although the amended Hospital Act no longer mandates munici-
pal representatives on Hospital Boards, the Sisters!

Corporation of Saint Mary's Hospital always welcomes municipal
appointees to its Board of Management,

We have always found that interested municipal appointees add
a great deal to Board discussions by their wide community
experience,
