Eng., DATE: June 24, 1991 City Engineer Ike de Boer Project Technician SUBJECT: 2871 COAST MERIDIAN CATCH BASIN Install a catch basin at entrance to driveway at property line of 2871 Coast Meridian. Attached is a letter from a resident of 2871 Coast Meridian Road requesting the City install a catch basin in the boulevard adjacent to his driveway. The driveway is adjacent to a rear lane with access to Westminster Avenue (See sketch). : Westminster Avenue was re-constructed in 1980 complete with curb and gutter and siclewalks. ‘The new road was raised slightly along its entire length. In areas where the existing ground was lower, lawn basins were installed. oe The lane adjacent to the driveway is also higher, this lane has no drainage system and is relatively flat, letting run-off seep away on its own, and into the resident’s driveway. As shown on the attached sketch the original survey notes show the driveway to be lower but no drain was placed here at the time of construction. Two options would alleviate the resident’s drainage problems. Option | Install a catch basin in the lane adjacent to 2871 Coast Meridian. Swale center line of lane to allow run-off to reach catch basin, this option would not remedy the lower boulevard drainage problem. Option 2 Place a catch basin at property line in driveway to rear garage (See sketch for : location). Run-off water from lane would also go to this location. as Option 2 Cost - Catch basin complete with 150 dia. lead is $1500.00 Fath Ike dé Boer Project Technician
