Four Cars

The low bid by Eastgate Toyota for the supply of 1200 c.c.
Toyotas does not meet the specifications. The second low
bic by Summit Motors was conditional upon a May lst, 1977
acceptance. The third low bid from Golden Ears Motors Ltd.
for the supply of four 1977 6 cylinder Gremlins is
$12,052.48. The fourth low bid by Eastgate Toyota Ltd. for
the supply of four 1977, 16C0 c.c. Toyotas is $12,079.23.
The fifth low bid by Metro Motors Ltd. for the supply of
four 1977 Pintos is $12,093.14. The Committee recommends
the purchase of four 1977 Pintos from Metro Motors Ltd. at
their quoted price. The differences between the third,
fourth, and fifth low bids are very small. We purchased
Pinto cars last year and have been satisfied with them.

Double Drum Vibratory Compactor

The low bid by Vulcan Machinery does not meet our
specifications. The second low bid by Pioneer Machinery
for the supply of a Rosco-Hydrapak is $15,304.21. None of
these units have been sold in this area and we are unable
to obtain any first-hand information. The third low bid
by Cypress Equipwent for the supply of a Raygo Romper is
$15,579.29. This unit does not meet our specifications,
We have rented one of these units in the past and were

not satisfied with the performance. The fourth low bid by
Purves-Ritchie Ltd. for the supply of a Dynapac CC-10 is

$15,954.77. We have also rented one of these units last
year and were satisfied with the unit's performance. The
Committee recommends the purchase of the Dynapac CC-10 at
the quoted price.

Backhoe

The low bid by Vulcan Machinery does not meet our
specifications. The second low bid by Dietrich Equipment
Ltd. for the supply of a Massey Ferguson MF-50C Backhoe is
$22,063.40. This unit does not meet our specifications

on some minor details. We have been unable to find any
similar units working in this area in order to check past
performance. We have been loaned a demonstrator for a few
days and we are not satisfied with the performance generally
and are particularly concerned about the obstructed
visibility which the operator has to contend with. The third
low bid by Milos Equipment Ltd. for the supply of a Case

580 © Backhoe is $23,625.60. We presently have a Case
Backhoe (which replaced a Case Backhoe) and have been very
satisfied with the performance over the past several years.
