Carried, From the City Clerk, July 26th, 1974, being a memorandum concerning an appli- City Clerk re bldg.per mit-apt.pro ject-2986 apartment at 2986 Coast Meridian Road. Alderman Ranger, in speaking to the memo- Cst.M.Road cation by Westgate Enterprises Ltd. for a building permit to construct a 76-unit randum, suggested that the proposed resolution set forth therein be amended by adding the words "at the expiry of the 30-day period from July 15th, 1974" at the end of the third paragraph thereof, and to this the Council generally agreed, Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Ranger: WHEREAS at the regular meeting of this Council held on July 22nd, 1974 the Chief Building Inspector was instructed to withhold the issuance of a building permit to Westgate Fnterprises Ltd. for the construction of a 76-unit apartment building at 2986 Coast Meridian Road for a period of 30 days from July 15th, 1974; ANI) WHEREAS it is the opinion of this Council that the development proposed in the application is at variance with an amendment in course of preparation to the Zoning By-law; namely, the "City of Port Coquitlam Zoning By-law, 1969, No. 918, Amendment By-law, 1974, No. 1328"; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the issuance of a building permit to Westgate Enterprises Ltd. for the construction of a 76-unit apartment building at 2986 Coast Meridian Road be withheld for a further 60 days at the expiry of the 30-day period from July 15th, 1974. Carried. NEW BUSINESS: From the City Administrator, August 12th, 1974, referring to approval given City Adm.re Elks Day - to the Elks Club last vear to hold a bed race in conjunction with their annual bed race Elks Day celebraticns, and advising that that organization has requested similar approval this year which will start behind the Library on Donald Street and pro- ceed to Wilson Avenue and East to Mary Hill Road; South to Pitt River Road; West to Shaughnessy Street; North to Marpole with the finish line at the Elks Hall. The City Administrator, in his report, further advised that the R.C.M.P. will provide assistance in policing the route during the race, Moved by Alderman Traboulay: @ seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That as recommended in a report from the City Administrator, August 12th, 1974, the Eiks Club be granted approval similar to that given last year for the holding of a bed race in conjunction with its Annual Elks Day Celebrations along the route set forth in the said report; AT THAT the appropriate City Departments be so advised.
