The Municipal Act has been amended to allow local governments to charge a fee, prescribed by
bylaw, for providing information previously set at a fixed fee.

The purpose of the amendment was to eliminate unnecessary provincial involvement in setting
administrative fees charged by local governments, and to enable local governments to cover
their reasonable costs of providing these administrative services.
