About 100 cars and 1000 people watched as dragsters took over the highway. Start burning rubber WHEN THE ENGINES roar and the dust starts fying, you know its time for the Terrace’s fourth : annual Riverboat Days Drags. That, and the smell of burning rubber. The races start early on Aug, 3 at 7:30 a.m. and last until 6 p.m. and everyone's invited. This year’s will be held in front of Lomak Transit on Highway 16 in Thoruhill, so the bigh- way will be closed all day. About 1000 people and 100 cars usually show up to tear up a little roadway and race organizers say this year is no different. On hand last year were some great classic cars: Cobras, Trans Ams, Vipers, Mustangs and if you “ge really close check out some of those speedy ‘alcool {fueled rail cars. i Competitors will race In three classes: Bracket One, Bracket Two and there'll be lots of chances for motorcycles to pop a few wheelies of their own. Last year’s winners included Terrace’s Troy Tomaschuk in the King of the Hill category, Kitimat’s Ian Berrisford was the top biker, Ken Petley won Bracket one and Wayne Campbell sped through Bracket Two. But can they do it again this year? We'll all just have to wait and see how new competitor burn through the 1/8 mile highway.
