THOMAS ALEXANDER (TOMMY) WALKER,
conservalionalist, sportsman and writer, died
in Smithers, 8.C. on Decamber.26, 1989, at
the age of 65.

Tommy Walker was born in Gravesend,

In 1940 Tommy maried Marion Isobel
Bullock-Webster.

In 1948 Tommy and Marion decided that
civilization was encroaching too closaly on
thair lives in Balla Coola, so they sold their
lodga, packed up ai! thair kit and rode through
tha interior of central B.C. to tha area now
known a5 Spatsizi Park.They establishad a
quida-utlitting business at Coldfish Lake.-
They graw to love the area and Tommy's

‘qreat concern was thatit should be preserved.

He worked tirelessly for many years and the
rasult was tha creation, In 1976, or Spatsizi
Provincial Park, His beak, Sparsizi, recounts -
the file ha and Marion had in futlilling this
dréam.

During thelr Spatsizl years Tommy and
Marion wintered In Qualicum Baach. in 1974
they moved to Smithers.

Tommy and Marion ramained a close, happy
and gracious couple until Marion's daath in
1937. Tommy navar ceased to miss her. It
had been his wish to die In his home and he
passed away (here, peacelully, surraunded by.
ald frignds, In the quia! of his home, just after.”

A Memorial Service will ha hald on Sunday,
