September 2, 1977 C OU N C Mr. Freeman SEP 6 1977 For City Council Port Coquitlam Dear Councilmen; Members of our party have for several years organized in your city. This has included petition drives, literature distribution etc, During June two of our members, ir, Calvin segur and Ira Liebowitz were informed by lir. Krie that he would order their arrest if permission were not obtained from the City Council, I suspect that Mr. Kriegy was under pressure at the time due to the presence that day of several Hare Krishnas in the city who were harassing people, However I want to inform you that we are providing a summary description of the NALP's campaign work in order to reach a swift agreement that will permit our members to carry on democratically. guaranteed rights in Port Coquitlam without interference -of mis~ applied city ordinances, although from a legal standpoint we are informed that city ordinances cannot be used to Supercede the normal rights of parties to organize, campaign, seek elective office etc, Our party is carrying on a campaign for the passage of the provin- cial Nuclear Energy Research and Development Act of BC as part of the party's advocacy of rapid energy and industrial and technological growth. The party is also actively organizing for a new Wational Bank of Canada and an International gold-back Development Bank of the sort capable of generating much needed high rates of investment capital in Canada for growth of industries and world trade. Our party is politically Whig-industrialist, organizing for alliances of labor and business and scientists for an industrially growing republican form of government. We publich "The Campaigner" whose current issue features a ground breaking study of the lOth century philosopher Ibn Sina, a man whose influence upon Zuropean Renaissance figures such as Ficino, Nicholas of Cusa, Descartes, helned Launch the European Humanist movement and modern, Progressing society. The party sponsored the formation in 1974 of the Fusion Energy Foundation. The FEF publishes "Fusion", a seience journal, circulating work on the biological sciences and nuclear fusion.
