Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution a discussion ensued and in an- swer to queries made by ‘Alderman Meyer, ‘the City Administrator advised that the project ‘estimates were inade by the C City Engineer based on previous discussions at the Committee level, and mentioned that in order to encourage winter employment , the Provincial Government will provide 100% forgiveness for labour costs during the period December to May and 50% for the rest of the year. Alderman Meyer inquired what percentage of the 2.2 million dollars would be included in labour costs and the City Adwinistrator advised that this would amount to apptoximately $800, 000. 00; however, on “that: size of a project the total labour could ‘not be confined to the winter months. From the City Adninistrator, February l6th, 1973 regarding the purchase of a vehicle to replace the old Fire Department rescue truck, and advising that the Fire Chief has become aware that there is 2 1969 XC panel truck for sale by | Karl's Meat Market at a cost of $1, 700.00. The City Administrator, in his report, further’ advised that the 1973 budget contains a sum ‘of M4, 000.00 for this replace~ ment and that the Fire Chiek is satisfied that this second-hand vehicle would be adequate for the use intended and recommends its purchase.
