That City Council confirm the Downtown Businessmen's Committee decision to retain the services of Del Can with Mr. Patti Rao as Project Manager for the Downtown Revitalization Programme. Carried. From the City Engineer, September 15th, 1982 regarding the repair of Elinor Crescent and Wellington Street. Moved: by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Muldoon: That the City proceed with the repair of the sections of road damaged by broken watermains on Elinor Crescent and Wellington Street at a total cost of approximately $23,000 and that the funds be taken out of the Water Utility Capital Reserve Fund. Carried. From the City Engineer, September 15th, 1982 regarding stop signs at exits from CP Transport and Western Assembly on Kingsway. Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Muldoon: That. the City install STOP signs at the three exits from the CP Transport and Western Assembly developments along Kingsway. Carried. NEW BUSINESS: Alderman Muldoon expressed congratulations to the participants of the Terry Fox Run. Alderman Mabbett referred to the B.C. Hydro pole site on Mary Hill Road and McAllister Avenue and stated the broken pole is still there Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That a letter be written to B.C. Hydro regarding pole installation sites and requesting that when checking into the problem B.C. Hydrs contact the City for the necessary site problem information. Carried. Alderman Gates asked that the Mayor appoint an ad hoc committee to study the costs and facility requirements and the possibility of hosting B.C. Summer Games.
