Laboring under below-zero conditions, crews of the
Pacific Great Eastern Railway are laying track to
complete the line into the Peace River country. This
photo, taken near Chetwynd, shows the men push-
ing toward Dawson Creek and Fort St. John. Present
plans call for the completion of the railway to its
northern terminus in the summer of 1958.

An installation ceremony was
held for the first time since the

tiring president officiating.

Mrs. J. B. Ringwood then
installed Mrs. Jorgensen as a
member of the executive in her
position of past-president, and

of the auxiliary during her term
of office.

“Our membership has in-
creased,” she reported, ‘our
meetings have moved from the
hospital to a larger hall; a
work schedule was introduced
successfully, and the shopping
service started at the hospital.
We have raised money for many
valuable and essential items of
equipment, and sponsored
several social affairs and tried
to make the nurses feel at home
in the community.”

HOSPITAL DAY

In a discussion on the annual
Pound Day, held in May, it was
felt that the event had not been
too successful in recent years.
It was decided to change the
name to “ Hospital Day,” as the
former name was outmoded, and
to concentrate on tours of the
hospital and the afternoon: tea
as a public relations service.
The poster and essay contest will
be continued throughout the
schools.

Mrs. K. Cameron, Mrs. H.
McKay and Mrs. R. Court were
named to a committee to work
with the group organizing the
hospital improvement district.
Auxiliary members will be con-
ducting the canvas of property
owners in town, and it is ex-
pected that work will get under-
way within a month or so.

quarters, Mrs. H. McKay was

named as a councillor for this
district.

Plans for the annual Valen-
tine dance, to be held February
