Front and rear designs changes noted in Chevs No radical style changes are evident in the 1960 Chevrolet, on display locally this week. Most notable design changes are in the front and rear areas. An oval-shaped grille spans the hood and encloses widely-spaced twin headlights. The wing overhang at the rear has been revamped to widen thé trunk opening and lower the loading sill. The six-passenger se- dan, a model of which is on display in Williams Lake, is only four feet three inches high. Its length is 15 feet. The Corvair is the product of a nine-year research. and develop- ment program aimed at designing @ compact car which is low in initial cost, economical to oper- ate and yet providing North American standards of confort and convenience. Special features include a light- weight, six-cylinder “pancake” en- gine at the rear of the car; i dependent suspension of all four wheels; luggage compartment under the hood; airplane type gasolene heater that gives instant compartment warmth. Comprehensive design and use of light-weight aluminum has re- sulted in an engine of superior efficiency, according to the makers.
