ONTARIO LOGGERS BLOCK WAGE-CUT TIMMINS, Ont—A victory for trade unionism and the right of workers to get a decent wage was won here last week when one of four mills recently closed by strike action signed an agreement with the Lumber and Sawmill Workers’ Union and withdrew plans for a proposed wage cut, The strike was called when the four mills announced that they intended to cut wages by 25 cents a day and increase the price of board by 15 percent. The Union immediately called a walkout and placed a picket at each mill, The progressive city council in Tim- mins is playing a prominent part in the strike on behalf of the workers.
