Terrace Review — Wednesday, April 23, 1986 Golf Club seeks funds TERRACE — The Ter- race municipal council has given its support to — an application from the Skeena Valley Golf and Country Club for $74,250 to the B.C. Lot- tery Fund. In a letter to the coun- cil, country club presi- dent Stu Crouse explain- ed that the money would be used to partially finance upgrading of the clubhouse at the Thorn- hill golf course. Crouse estimates the total cost of proposed renovations to be about $225,000. Competitors take on 8-mile jaunt About a dozen of Sun- day's 45 runners at the Annual Skeena Valley Marathoner Club’s An- nual Spring Run, decid- ed to go the full ecight- mile jaunt. Overall winner was organizer Ray Warner in a time of 49 minutes, 15 seconds. Of course Terrace’s Canadian Champion Wheelchair Mara- thoner Paul Clark ac- tually came first as ex- pected. Clark wheeled in at 44 minutes, 43 seconds — his best time ever for this event. In the four-mile sec- tion, George Alexcee in the ‘under-18 age group placed first in 23 minutes, 52 seconds. The Kincolith runner’s brother, Gerald, was timed in at 24.51 which was good enough for third place. Mike Brard in 24.39 grabbed second and was first overall for males 18 to 40. Ken McDonald was fourth in 25,22. Only two women and @ girl made up the female entry list, and only Lyn- da Annibal of Kitimat went for the eight-mile run. Needless to say, she won for ladies: 18-35, Bowl-a-spiel attracts 40 teams Forty teams, including one from Prince Rupert, took part in the weekend’s third annual Terrace Youth Bowling ‘Council Bowl-A-Spiel at the Terrace Bowling Lanes. Each three-person team consisted of one adult and two youth bowlers. Top prize went to the “A” event winners, Bri- Don Installations. ” Teams members are Paul and John Hales, and Brian Lefrancois. They beat out Burdett Distributors 1868 to 1820. Third place went to Terrace Bowling and fourth to Ken’s Marine. ““B’’ event went to Northern Motor Inn over Bruce Yeast Limited. The score was 1931 to 18537. Winning team players are Gary and Chrystal Edgar, and Lyle Davidson, — Pizza Patio took third and Prince Rupert’s Le Que fourth. Rasmussen Contract- ing won “C” event 2048 to 1786 over Haida Travel. Winning players were Lis Rasmussen, Kim Gunn and Jamie Gibson. Third place went to Lehman Jewellers and fourth to Motor-Ways. Terrace Chrysler came out on top in ‘'D’’ event with a 2015 to 1742 vic- tory over Scott Mitchell Trucking. Chrysler players were Theresa Schulte, Kari Haugland and Eva Wilkinson.
