Subject : Civic Awards That the criteria for awarding City of Port Coquitlam Civic Awards as submitted with a memorandum from the City Clerk, November 22nd, 1974, be accepted. General: 1. The recipient must be or must have been a resident of Port Coquitlam for at least six months prior to the nomination for the award. No person or group of persons shall receive the award more than once for each specific award class Any person may nominate an individual or group of individuals by completing a nomination form, returning it to the City Clerk who will present it to the Council. A majority vote of Council’ is required to authorize presentation of an award except for "Recognition" when approval of the Mayor will suffice. An award or awards will not necessarily be awarded each year. _ Sports: May be awarded to an. individual or team who wins a competition at the highest Provincial level or for equivalent achievement. Arts & Sciences: May be awarded to an individual or group of individuals who achieves the highest Provincial level or equivalent recognition for a work of art, performance, composition, scientific achievement or similar wor. Community Service: May be awarded to an individual or group of. individuals who performs an outstanding service to. the City, the Province, or Canada, or who, over a. period of years served the City, the Province, or Canada in an outstanding manner. Heroism: May be awarded: to an individual or group of individuals who show outstanding heroism in the protection of life and/or property. Recognition: May. be. awarded. to recognize Wedding Anniversaries, Birthdays, or other personal . milestones: reached by City. residents; z, if applicable, by clubs: or organizations.
