The Public Works Committee considered a memorandum dated March 2, 1992 from ¢
Project/Traffic Technician regarding a letter from Mr. Bob Galer of Port Coquitlam Buildi
Supplies Ltd. regarding boulevard. improvements along the frontage of the Poco Buildi
Supplies property on Mary Hill Road and also regarding barricading City owned property att
southwest corner of Mary Hill Road and Kingsway.

In order to prevent traffic from short-cutting through the City owned property at the southw.
corer of Mary Hill Road and Kingsway, the Committee recommends that no-post barricades
placed along Kingsway and along Mary Hill Road bordering this property at an estirnated cost
$800. The Committee decided to table the request for removing the boulevard and constructi
a sidewalk in front of the Poco Building Supplies on Mary Hill Road until after the courthouse

constructed.

The City Engineer gave a verbal report noting that the Engineering Department is working v
the District of Coquitlam to review the possibilities of installing a four-way stop at Victoria ;

The Public Works Committee considered a memorandum from the Project Technician dz
February 21, 1992 regarding a letter dated February 6, 1992 from BC Transit requesting bus s
changes at the Port Coquitlam Recreation Centre. | :

The Committee was concemed that the proposed bus stop zone would remove an area used
pickup and drop off in front of the Poco Recreation Centre.

The Committee recommended that Ansel Wang, Senior Transportation Engineer, BC Transit
invited te the next Traffic Committee Meeting to discuss bus stop areas and the possibilit:
relocating the existing bus stop to other locations in the Port Coquitlam Recreation Ce
parking lot. Mr. Wang was invited to bring additional information regarding the numbe
buses that use this bus stop, the hours of operation, any problems experienced with articula
buses, and alternate locations for bus stops. |
