3. HAZEL TREMBATH SCHOOL - ADVANTAGES High location above flooding, on the south end of Mary Hill. Prevailing winds would probably carry toxic fumes away from the area but might still be vulnerable, being on the eastern Side of the hill. Good accomodation for displaced persons. DISADVANTAGES Could be unusable in the event of a toxte gas Spill on the Mary Hill bypass, CP truck terminal, Mayfair railway spur lines or Lougheed Highway. Very poor read access. Poor alternative to City owned accomodation on Citadel Heights, Far from doctors' offices, health unit, restaurants, fire halis, grocery or drug stores. Not City owned ~ little control of suitable space, furnishings etc. Could be many children in the building in the event of a daytime disaster. Radio isolated from Comordinator's office. May not be earthquake proof. Only one phone line available in a declared disaster. No emergency generator on site but arrangements could be the same as those for City Hall. No access to City records available, no access to public works radios, if no power failure, but Coordinator's or City Engineer's truck radios would be used. ACTION REQUIRED In the event of this proposal being accepted the following action would be required: Contact School District #43 and Mr. G, Sawatsky, principal of Hazel Trembath School regarding the possibility of obtaining Storage and other space as outlined. COST: for locked storage etc. approximately $600.00. Have the GVRD to move the emergency radio and antenna to City Hall from Hyde Creek. COST: approximately $300.00. Designate one of the two Honda generators in the works yard for the Coordinator's use during any power failure in a declared disuster. NO COST. Purchase two car batteries and trickle chargers to be kept at City Hall and Hazel Trembath School to provide immediate emergency power for the radio (good for 3 - 4 hours) until the generator arrives. COST: approximately $300.00.
