As you may be aware, Action 17 of "Creating Our Future" called on the GVRD to "Double the number of bicycle commuters by 1995 through promoting a regional cycling network in cooperation with municipalities, preparing a regional map of commuter and recreational cycling routes, work with B.C. Transit to facilitate multi- modal travel and encouraging municipalities to adopt development standards that accommodate the needs of cyclists," | The Regional Bicycle Task Force has set as its objective, based on the GVRD Creating Our Future action plan and Regional Strategic plan, to recommend, in the Spring of 1993, Regional Bicycle Commuter and Recreational Routes, with associated short term policies and future actions, The Task Force will: 1) Establish an Inter-municipal Bicycle Committee, which will include BC Transit and Ministry of Transportation and Highways representatives, to provide a forum to coordinate bicycle planning and to facilitate multi- — modal travel in the region: 2) Identify regional bicycle issues and options; 3) Prepare a regional bicycle issues paper in the Spring of 1992; 4) Participate in local and regional cycling events in the GVRD and hear the concerns and suggestions from the public;
