Prior to defeat of the foregoing proposed resolution, a discussicn ensued and Alderman Laking pointed out that further information should be obtained on the question of additional ditching and land acquisition before taking any action, and Alderman Traboulay agreed with the comments made by Alderman Laking. Alderman Ranger commented that while there are two pumps for the Dominion Avenue area, there is only one running at any given time, and althoug! during June the water cannot tun off through the DeBoville slough, it is adequate for the rest of the year. Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: That the appropriate City staff investigate the reason that only one pump is proposed to be installed at the Prairie Averue pumphouse and submit a report and recommendation to Council therec... Carried. Alderman Keryluk referred to item 2(a) of his report concerning Hyde Creek, and advised that in speaking to Mr. Bonham, he agreed this area presents a bit of a problem and that he would be looking into the situation further; therefore, he wished to leave 2(a) in abeyance until further information is received from Mr. Bonham. Alderman Keryluk then referred to item 2(b) wherein he recommended that a G.V.R.D. study of the run-off from the South slope of Burke Mountain be undertaken and stated he would be prepared to defer consideration thereof until a meeting is held with Tne Honourable Lorne Nicolson, Minister of Housing, provided that Alderman Laking would do likewise with respect to his Notice of Motion stating similar intent that is listed on the agenda for later consideration, and to this Alderman Laking agreed. Alderman Keryluk then referred to item 3. of his report, and stated he understood that there would be no purpose in negotiating with the Frovince to share in drainage maintenance costs, since this may jeopardize the priority now established for the City's dyking and drainage program.
