THE CORPORATION OF THE city OF PORT COQUITLAM REPORT _ JUN 14 4976 TO: Mayor and Council June llth, 1976" FROM: Public Works Committee. Report from the Public Works Committee Meeting held Thursday, June 3rd, 1976. IN ATTENDANCE: Alderman E.wW. Mabbett Alderman M.A. Thompson V.G. Borch, P. Eng. Respectfully submitted. ITEM I : A . Re: B.C. Hydro Transit Centre Further to the memorandum to the Mayor and Council Gated June 7th, 1976, a copy of which is attached hereto, this report is to outline developments which have taken place relating to proposed improvements to Kingsway adjacent to the B.C. Hydro Transit Centre property. . Several applications for tentative subdivision approval for a variety of proposed developments have been considered and processed for the subject property since early in 1974, In 1975 B.C. Hydro Transit became interested in acquiring a 15 acre L-shaped parcel. Tentative subdivision approval was provided and early in 1976 the subdivision creating the 15 acre parcel was approved and registered. The significant features of the subdivision approval relating to offsite improvements on Kingsway were a 48-inch storm sewer installation on Kingsway, a sanitary sewer installation on Kingsway, and road widening, curb and gutter and boulevard constr- uction along the east and northeast sides of Kingsway. These requirements totalled approximately $120,000.00. At no time was it suggested that any portion of Kingsway be. completely rebuilt. Subsequently, B.C. Hydro's consulting engineers were directed to proceed with the design of offsite and onsite services. Tt became apparent because of the nature of the facility to be developed that some reconsideration of the offsite servicing would be required. With the approval of the Public Works Committee the City's Traffic Consultant, 2%. Kuun, was engaged to review all aspects of the project's impact on Kingsway particuarly in relation to the City's future traffic needs. Mr. Kuun's report dated May 10th, 1976 is attached as well as a print of his Drawing 031-P2. As mentioned, Mr. Kuun has taken into account the implications of the proposed B.C. Hydro Transit Operation as well as the City's ‘present and future traffic requirements on Kingsway. [2veee
