SUBJECT: NEW B.C. TRANSIT ROUTE CHANGES - CITADEL HEIGHTS AREA
(Public Works/Traffic Committee Meeting of January 17, 1994)

RECOMMENDATION:

That Council direct the City Engineer to request B.C. Transit to hold a public meeting on the
proposed bus transit changes in Citadel Heights.

BACKGROUND & COMMENTS:

The Pubiic Works/lraffic Committee considered the attached letter from B.C. Transit dated
December 7. 1993 proposing changes to Bus Route #161 - Mary Hiil/Port Coquitlam Center and
proposing evening, Sunday and holiday service to Citadel Heights. B.C. Transit proposes to use
mini buses on this route.

On June 17, 1993, B.C. Transit held a public meeting at Hazel Trembath School in order to
consider essentially -he same bus route changes based on using large diesel buses. There was
opposition from the residents along Eastern Drive due to the noise that would be generated from
diesel buses going up hill.

It is recommended that B.C. Transit hold another public meeting in order to give residents an

opportunity to review the proposed transit changes. : : a a
