That as recommended ina report from the Health Committee, May 23rd, 1974, the
Pollution Control Board be advised that with respect to issuance of a pollution con-
trol permit to a local firm, Kennametal, Inc., the uncontaminated discharge from
the plant to be separated and directed into the city's storm sewer system is ac-
ceptable to the City providing that the cooling water is not discharged at such a
high temperature as to cause unsatisfactory conditions downstream;

AND THAT the Pollution Control Board be chanked for advising the City of the
disposition of this application. oo 2 a TABLED

Prior to the question being called on the fore eeoing résdlution, Alderman

Qieryiek inquired whe ther a maximum temperature had been established, and the City
Engineex advised that the actual tenperatere would be set by the Pollution Control
Board; however, he suggested that the / Hemperatur @ ‘would probably be in the neigh-
bourhood of between” 70° to ‘100° ‘Fahrenheit. Alderman Ranger inquired whether the
City Engineer had figures available concerning an acceptable temperature levei
that would pct promote the grovth of uéeds, algae, odour, etc., and the City
Engineer replied that he did not, and suggested that legislation is set up so
the Pollution Control Branch can regulate conditions for discharge of various
kinds of Wate «
