Health Tips SINUSITIS There is a good desl of misun- derstanding among the general public about sinusitis, the Can- adian Medical Association reports. Patients frequently tell a doctor they have sinus trouble when they | have pain in the face.or headache which may ‘be coming érom, else- where in the spaces in the skull called the sinuses, Pain is a symp- tom of inflamation of one of these spaces but only if normal drainage from them is blocked. A majority of sufferers of sinus- itis have no pain but a stuffy nose with a yellowish or greenish puru- lent discharge, which comes from both the nose and down the back of the throat as a post-nasal drip. In other words, it is a bad cold in the head ‘which does not clear up in the usual week or two, but persists and leads to many second- ary conditions such as sore throat, hoarseness or loss of veice and a chronic cough or chronic bron- chitis. A complete cure can be athiev- ed in most cases of sinusitis in a relatively short time. Once a diagnosis is made, tests -will-indi- cate the appropriate antibiotics. When these are given in adequate dosage, accompanied by other necessary treatments such as gen- tle irrigation of the sinuses, a complete cure can often be achiev- ed, It also helps to stop gmoking, and it is better not ta over-treat the nose with nasal sprays and drops which will only cause in- creased congestion and irritation leading to a chronic condition and delayed recovery. eee __ nee Vaneouver was first illuminated with gag on November 26, 1637, iKalum H ELECTRIC Ma * Soler & Electrical * Contractor, x Residential © * Commercial © Cerner of Kalum and Pork Phone VI 9-2752 liance rvice Motor Winding — “It Js important for everybody and vital for teachers that they keep abreast of an increasing store of knowledge and constantly improving techniques, and this is a way of encouraging teachers,” Mr. Peterson said. “Our teaching staff is already the most highly qualified in Canada and we want to keep it that way.” Copies of acholarship regula- tions and application forms may be obtained by writing to the Coordinator of Teacher Recruit- ment, Parliament Buildings, Vic- toria, Applications must be in by January 18, 1967, because a PFAFF dealer offers | the largest | -. selection of fine sewing machines $59. 95 priced from |. a Sheena Squares Visit Rupert Sixteen membera of the Skeetia Squares dancing club of Terrace travelled to Prince Rupert re- cently to take part in that city’s Annual Hoedown.
