That the. Administrator be instructed to investigate the cost of engaging the
services of a Library Planning Consultant to determine the area and form that a new

Library should take in the Marathon Realty Ltd. shopping centre proposal. Carried.
Aldermen Meyer, Mabbett, and Laking voted against the resolution.

Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, Alderman Heyer; in’ proposing. the
following amendment, stated he took the strongest possible exceptance. to linkage of
8. new jibrary facility ith the Marathon Realty Ltd. proposal, particularly since
the Council had, in Committee, discussed the various requirements it would be making
of that developer and that it was, in his view, inconsistent to lobby for one item
out of the entire set of requirements. |

That the foregoing proposed resolution be amended by striking out all refer-

ence to the Marathon Shopping centre proposal. ‘Defeated.
Aldermen Meyer, Mabbett, and Laking voted in favour of the resolution.

Mr. R.A. Hosegood, August 30th, 1973, conveying the 1974 Budget requests fer the Shelter Op=:

S.P.C.A. ani advising that in accordance with the agreement, the City is required get
to approve this by September 30th, 1975. The City Administrator, in his report,
further advised that Alderman Traboulay had requested an Intermunicipal meeting be
arranged to make sure that all municipaiities were in agreement with the Budget
before proceeding; however, this has not been possible due to the Counc41 activi-
ties during the month of September. . :

A discussion. ensued, and the City Administrator advised that it was his under-
standing that the other two municipalities were also asked to approve the Budget
by the date specified in his report; however, as the District of Coquitlam may not
be meeting this deadline, it might be appropriate for the City to leave. the matter”

in abeyance at this time.
