From the Planning & Zoning Committee, October 21st, 1976, referring to Application R#30/76 - a proposed Industrial Development on Broadway —~- and submitting a memorandum from the City Engineer, October i5th, 1976, regarding the position of the Public Works and Industrial Development Committees on sanitary sewer and water services to the above development, viz: that if the developers of Applications R#24/76 and R#30/76 are prepared to install all the necessary water and sewer mains, provision could be: made to refund approximately $40,000.00 of the amount required when the presently undeveloped properties proceed to development; however, the Committee, in its report, advised it does not concur with the position of the Public Works and Industrial Development Committees stated above. Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman _Thompson: That the following recommendations as set forth in a report from the Planning & Zoning Committee, October 21st, 1976, concerning Application R#30/76 - a proposed Industrial Development at 1647 Broadway Avenue, be approved: 1. It is necessary for the City to participate in the financing of essential services in order to encourage industrial developments in the designated industrial area, with the cost to be recovered as developments occur on the undeveloped properties. 2. The City has set the precedent to finance services in the previous industrial development on Broadway, and therefore should continue with this Policy. AND THAT Application R#30/76 requesting designation of Lot 4, D.Ls. 231 & 384, Plan 11613, located at 1647 Broadway, as a Development Area, he approved. Carried. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, Alderman Laking pointed out that if the City is going to continue with Industrial development, it is going to have to be prepared to finance services in the area designated therefore and recover the costs when development takes place. Alderman Thompson stated he would like to see industry other than warehousing Plan.& Zon. Comm.-Appln. R#30/76
