We enjoy large yards and have selected this area for its proximity to areas relatively undisturbed. The following people were present to speak regarding the proposed rezoning: Mr. YT. Zipp, 1360 Mary Hill Road who referred to the 29 signature petition submitted to Council and cutlined the points presented in that petition. The Director of Community Planning introduced Mr. Derek Ashford. representing the developer, Western Mortgage Development Corporation, who briefly explained the development. Mr. L. Zipp, 1360 Mary Hill Road referred to items in the petition dealing with increased traffic and a pedestrian light for children crossing along with the problem of dirt bikes using the area. Mr. B. Robertson, 1315 Eastern Drive, presented a 120 name petition opposing the rezoning. Mr. Robertson stated concerns regarding the high density of the proposed rezoning as he felt it would be 5 times higher than thac in the Citadel Heights area. He also expressed concerns regarding iacreased traffic, population and noise and said it would significantly reduce the park land and play areas for children: be a drastic change from the current spread of single family dwellings (Estate Residential): eliminate land designated for agricultural use: destroy the natural habitat for wildlife: increase the crime rate in Port Coquitlam. Mr. P. Buckua, 1371 Elinor Crescent, expressed concern regarding their lane and said they have 30 to 50 vehicles that turn around in his driveway after they realize it is a "no through road". Expressed concern that this will increase with more traffic in the area. Mr. Buckna stated his concern with the high deusity of the area proposed after moving into the area because of the single family and lower density areas. | Mr. J. Collins, 1314 Elinor Crescent, referred to a study by Hydro Ontario regarding the increase in cancer in children around electro-magnetic current. Mr. T. Townsend, 1430 June Crescent, expressed concern that even through there is an increase in development in Port Coquitlam, Council has turned down a request to hire four additional Firefighters. He also inquired whether there would be an increase in the number of Police hired for Port Coquitlam. Mr. A. Harm, 1309 Eastern Drive expressed concerned regarding traffic on Eastern Drive, especially the wuumber of trucks that will be driving to the proposed subdivisions.
