CITY oF PORT COQUITLAM GENERAL REMARKS The function of the Animal Control Facility in the City of Port Coquitlam during the month of April was most satisfactory. The total complaints for the year to date, 129, is well below that of 176 for the same period in 1976. Dogs impounded shows a slight increase, however, the ratio of animals claimed to dogs impounded is also showing an improvement. One significant point is that there has been a massive decrease in the number of animals destroyed, animals picked up and animals destroyed as surplus to human requirements. This will mean a saving in the cost of disposal of pathological waste within the municipality. The Executive Committee of the Vancouver Regional Branch extends to ali members of Council, an invitation to not only visit the Shelter but also to visit the Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic so they are aware of not only the problems associated with animal control but also the effects of the clinic on the associated problems of animal control. The Branch is prepared to set aside time so that all members of Council can attend any given time.
