Eng., Deputy City Engineer Construction of Sidewalk on Wellington Street at Irvine Elementary (Public Works Committee Meeting July 5, 1989) Recommendation: That Council reaffirm its decision not to construct a sidewalk on the east Side of Wellington Street adjacent to Irvine Elementary School and that the School District be so advised. Background and Comments: A second request has been received from School District No. 43 requesting that a sidewalk be constructed along the east side of Wellington Street adjacent to Irvine Elementary School. The School District is planning to construct a drop off and parking area on their property adjacent to Wellington Street and feel that a sidewalk would improve the safety. The Committee felt that since there was already a sidewalk on the west side of Wellington Street and marked crosswalks on the road that a sidewalk, While desireable, was not essential. Moreover, there are no funds allocated for this in the capital works budget. 4). D.G. Riecken, P. Eng., Deputy City Engineer
