What a night! The 20th annual Sweetheart Dinner and Dance HERE ‘N: THERE. YVONNE MOEN THE KINETTE Club of Terrace held its 20th anni- versary Sweetheart Dinner and Dance for seniors last month, at the Elk’s Hall. What a bash! It was a great evening. It started with Kinette president Helen Finlayson opening the Feb. 9 event by wel- coming everyone. She said special thank yous to the Ladies of the Royal Purple, to the Elks Ciub for the use of the hall, Terrace Totem Ford for the courtesy van and several sludents who came from Caledonia Senior Secondary school to vo- lunteer as servers, and the wonderful entertainment provided by Dizzy Strings, — and, of course, the mer- chants who donated prizes. Then it was time to in- troduce the head table; starting with the 2002 King of Hearts, Charlie Oliver, and his son, Jim. (Charlie celebrated his 100th birth- day on March 11.) Last year’s Queen of Hearts, Lorna. Klowak and Joe, were also there, along with RCMP Insp. Marlin De- grand and Sgt, Jas Basi and Harpal,. and City Councillor Marylin Davies and Phil, Kinette Cheryl Vander- meer said a lovely grace Who are the | ot ii, 8h Royal Pui yndailel oF ates CONTRIBUTED A TERRACE institution celebrates its 45th anni- versary: this year. After dinner and some social time spent chatting with friends came the part of the: evening everyone was waiting for. Playing cards were pas- sed around to all the se- niors. Now it was time to see who would be the lucky 2003 King and _ Queen of Hearts. . The new Queen is Do- lores Kellar and the 2003 King is Roy Nelson. This is the second time Roy as been a King of Hearts, He was also crowned in 1991. I puess that’s because he is so handsome. After a lot of pictures were taken, and prizes were drawn, some of the seniors stayed to dance to the music of Dizzy Strings. It was another great job - by the. Kinettes,- with help of the Kinsmen.
