Re: G.V.R.D. Planning Committee Meeting - September 3rd, 1975

In the Pkanning Meeting of September 3nd, 1975 we had a very great
argument on whether or not to become involved in a Light Rapid Transit
Design Study. I believe that the cost of this would be great because it
would mean the cost of grading, tracks, type of trains, stations, fare
structures, etc., and I believe that this is too nich for our bkood. I

am not opposed to the Light rapid transit idea but I think that we must
get agreement from the two senior governments before we tie ourselves to
any expense. Faom my information L.R.T. 44 not a high prtority item
with the Provincial government and to my mind rightfully so. We were
defeated by a vote of 6 - 5 but certainty made our objections known.
