TO: Mayor and Council DATE: July ยข 2 FROM: THE HEALTH COMMITTEE ; . _ JUL 31 1972 A meeting of the. Health Committee was held in the City Hall on July 19th, 1972. Present were Chairman Alderman Leggatt; Dr. Munroe, Max Ratner, Miss McKenzie from the Simon Fraser Health Unit; Mr. G. Schramm from the Department of Rehabilitation and Social Improvement; L.D. Pollock from the City Staff. Also in attendance were guests, Dr. Purdy, Mr. C. Grierson and Mr. N. Barth from the Greater Vancouver Regional Hospital District. 1) Coquitlam Hospital - this meeting represented the third in a series of meetings with various groups to discuss the need and function of the proposed Coquitlam hospital. The results of these meetings will be summarized and presented to Council for information as soon as possible. Welfare Statistics - Gordon Schramm reported on current Welfare statistics within the City and a copy of his summary is attached for Council's information. Receiving Home - Catholic Family & Children's Service - a letter was considered from the Catholic Family & Children's Service to operate a Receiving Home for children at 2070 Mary Hill Road (Dr. Baird home). Attached is a copy of their letter which was considered by the Committee. The Committee feel that a receiving hone is badly needed in the Community but we are concerned that this organization may not be able to accept a reasonable number of children from the Port Coquitlam area. It is our understanding that the association would have a representative in attendance at Council meeting when this matter is to be discussed in order to provide further information in this regard.
