January 27th, 1975 Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Ranger: That By-law No. 1356 be read a third time, Carried. NEW BUSINESS: Alderman Traboulay congratulated the Public Works Committee for coming up with a better design for the Prairie Avenue-Coast Meridian Road intersection; however, he expressed concern that no "let-downs" have been provided at curbs for wheelchairs and prams. Alderman Ranger advised that he had also noticed this was not done, but assured Alderman Traboulay the matter would not be forgotten. Alderman Traboulay advised that as requested by a School Trustee, a study was undertaken to determine whether or not the Agricultural Hall was fit for public use, and that a preliminary report received from the Fire Prevention Officer does not indicate it should not be used; there- fore he is writing a letter to the School Trustee to that effect. Alderman Traboulay reported on the progress being made at the George Pearkes Secondary and other schools in the City with regard to fire safety, and said the Fire Department is prepared to recommend that the City Building Inspector issue an occupancy permit to the George Pearkes School; although there are still some things yet to be done. Alderman Thompson advised that Planning & Zoning Committee meetings will be held on Thursdays at 9:45 a.m., and will be open to the press and representatives of local ratepayers groups as observers - not participants. Acting-Mayor Alderman Keryluk advised that on January 16th he had attended a meeting in Mission of the Fraser Valley Mosquito Control Board (now being wound up), and that two motions were passed for forwarding to the Regional Districts involved: 1) That representatives be appointed to the Mosquito Control Board by the Regional Districts to make the Board a legal entity and that the Board operate in the same manner as in the past; 2. The balance of monies on hand amounting to $10,176.00, be left in abeyance until the formation of a new Board with legal status, and if this does not occur, that refunds be made to the former member municipalities. The Acting-Mayor advised he had attended the opening of the new insurance Corporation of British Columbia claim centre in Coquitlam, at which time he had been pleased to accept a cheque in the amount of Alderman Traboulay re | curb "let- downs"-Cst.M Rd.& Prairie intersection Alderman Traboulay re public use fitness - Aggie Hall Alderman : Traboulay re fire safety impts.pro- gress-City schools Alderman Thompson re Plan.& Zon.
