COUNCIL THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM B.R. Kirk DATE: March 17, 1993 City Administrator Mike Davies P. Eng. FILE: 800-6 Project Engineer o.° . - . : oe CETEVLELQ A y {ep this}: (Public 1993 That che City of Port Coquitlam extend Delcan Corporation’s contract for engineering the reconstruction of Kingsway to include the section from Shaughnessy to Mary Hill Road at a cost of $22,900.00. That Council allocate $26,335.00 (including 15% contingencies) from the Road Development Cost Charge fund for this purpose. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: Delcan are presently preparing a design for widening 580 m of Kingsway from Westwood eastwards. It is recommended that an additional 230 m section from Shaughnessy to Mary Hill Road be included in their design work. By constructing this extra section the City would benefit from grant money which is available. Delcan could do the engineering concurrently with their present assignment including preparing a cost estimate for the extra construction. Should the cost of the additional 230 m be within the Cities present limits for spending, this section could also be constructed. A decision to go ahead with the extra construction would need to be made after Delcan submit their cost estimate. The extra cost for engineering would be $22,900.00 which is consistant with their price of $107,428.00 for the existing contract. The new total allocation including 15% contingencies for engineering would be $149,877.20. It is recommended that funding for the engineering work be allocated from the Development Cost Charge fund at this time and that funding from other sources be used in the ction portion of this project. Mike Davies P. Eg. Project Engineer MD/ca attachments ENGEB2824 Treasurer’s Comments: There are sufficient funds in the Road Development Cost Charge fund for this purpose.
