The three-day invitational tournament held March 31, April 1 and 2 fea- tured 165 competitors from all over the prov- ince. In the divisional sec- tion of the meet, Natasna McAvoy and Shannon Skyrabyk com- peted for Terrace. Skyrabyk placed fifth in the balance beam com- petition. Four Terrace girls competed in the open provincial section of the tournament. Jenny Brady won two bronze medals for floor and balance beam competi- tion. Rosanne Komlos won a gold medal for vault competition and came in sixth place on the balance beam. Andrea Komlos also won a gold medal for vault competi- tion in the Tyro divison of the open provincial competition. ‘SAll the girls improv- ed their marks during the Prince George School of Artistic Gymnastics,’’ said club coach Eva Komlos. The Terrace Peaks Gymnastics Club has been operating for 15 years now, said Komlos. The girls competing range from 13 to 16 years old. They practise every other day, approximate- ly eight hours a week. Peaks Club Komlos says the girls should be practising 14 to 16 hours per week to keep up with the other clubs in the province. On April 26 there will be a divisional cham- pionship in Kitimat. Komlos said the girls are looking forward to it. Also later in the year the provincial champion- ships will be held at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Provincial coach Jessica Johnston along with Ter- race’s four provincial level competitors, will be participating in the championship.
