Due to an unprecedented volume of correspondence, we
have been unable to acknowledge yours of January 3lst addressed
to the Minister and forwarded to this office for reply. Piease
acespt cur apology in this connection.

It is anticipated that 1973 will provide a smali in«
érease in our field staff. With proper planning, the Lower
Mainland area will benefit from an increased level of enforce~
ment. The person responsible within our Branch for the planne
ing and assignment of staff within limitations is Mr. G. A. West
our Regional Supervisor who wrote you on January 16, 1973. We
ere going to suggest that Mr. West, or one of his staff members,
together with the Conservation Officer responsible for the area
of Port Coquitlam, contact the R. C. M. Police and the Federal
Department responsible for salmon protection in order to deveeo
lope a plan of action suitable to each agency responsibility.
Once a planning relationship has been accomplished, it is suge
gested that Mr. West could provide you with the details or
possibly even appear for discussion with your Council.
