Re: New Liquor Store

Gentlemen:

On Friday, May 12, at 10:00 A. M., our new self-service
liquor store opened., At 10:20 a, M. it closed. It secns a
few details of an agreenent between the City and the developer
(this is not a government owned building) were overlooked,

1. Off street Parking was not provided,

2. The lane at the side of the building was not Paved.

mo 3. The "turn-around" at the end of Marpole Avenue Was
i not provided,

4. <A sewer inspection was not made,

5S. <An occupancy permit was not obtained.

Opened with temporary Parking at the Service station next door,
temporary barricades and signs restricting Parking on Narpole
Avenue to residonts only, and a private patrolman to enforce
these regulations,

| . Some time during Friday afternoon the liquor store re-~

_ Ky information is that the City Administrator conducted a
Straw vote among the Mayor and aldurmen until the Nayor and Pour
aldernen agreed to allow the developer to ignore his agreenent
and re-open the store under the above-nentioned temporary arranie~
ments. This raises certain questions;
