Janna Taylor, Recreation Director SUBJECT: 1986 Summer Games RECOMMENDATION: That the bid for the 1986 Summer Games not be entertained by District #43 communities. BACKGROUND & COMMENTS: Please see attached Minutes. Council may recall that last year an inter-municipal task force, made up of the Directors from District #43 Municipalities, was struck to look into the feasi- bility of jointly hosting the 1986 Summer Games. The original request for the 1986 Summer Games came_from the Port Moody City Council. The reason for looking at 1986 is that it marks the Centennial year of the first trans-continental train arrival in the City of Port Moody. As indicated in the report of the task force, one of the major concerns is that the present economic situation definitely prohibits the communities in District #43 entertaining such a venture.” a Taylor, reation Director.
