MEMORANDUM TO: Igor Zahynacz, City Engineer FROM: Andrew de Boer, Project Engineer DATE: November 14, 199@ RE: Undergrounding of Hydro line through Reeve St. park AS part of the redevelopment of Reeve St. park, the Parks and Recreation Department has requested that an assessment be made of the cost of undergrounding the hydro line that runs through the park property. The civil work for this broject, to be done at our expense, will include: 1) excavating a trench approximately 530 m long, 1 m deep and 0.45m wide laying sand bedding material on the bottom of the trench installing four (4) plastic conduits along the length of the trench installing two pilasters beside the poles at either end of the site 5) providing a sand covering over the conduits 6) backfilling the trench with existing material and tamping 7) installing two pull boxes at eitner end of the site The approximate cost for this work is S$ 28,00. The work performed by BC Hydro will be to remove the existing poles, bring the lines down, pull the lines through the conduits and do the necessary connections. The Materials for the project (conduits, pull boxes and wiring) will be supplied by Hydro. BC Hydro gave a rough cost estimate of $70,000 for the services and materials provided. This estimate was for the undergrounding from the dike to the pole before the parking lot. To extend the undergrounding through the parking lot would cost an extra $2,200@. The total cost for this project, considering the services and materials provided by Hydro and the civil work would be approximately $100,000. Andrew de Boer Project Engineer cc. Janna Taylor
