And Kermodes are slated to play Salmon Arm and Centennial before B.C. finals in early March. According to the Vancouver Sun newspaper, Kermodes are anchored by “‘the twin towers of Lisa Dams and Michelle Hendry’’, They call Hendry “the premier center’’ of the province. Kermodes, along with the Ker- mode boys, go to the Salmon Arm treasure tournament Dec. 18 and 19. It’s a four-team round-robin, with Mount Douglas of Victoria and North Kamloops supplying the other squads, Salmon Arm boys and girls come to Terrace for two-game series on Feb, 12 and 13. Kermode boys take on Centennial during the Lower Mainland squads’ Christmas tournament. Our girls travel to Centennial for action Feb. 4 to 6, The girls are opening their season this weekend in a tournament at Burns Lake. The Lakers are rated 10th best in single ‘A’ rankings. An initial prognosis for zone boys’ basketball has none of the ‘A’ or ‘AA’ teams rated for top 10 or honorable mention. Rupert went on to win ‘A’ side of the eight-team series, They took on Houston Hobblers next and came up on the short end of a 7-1 score. In their final outing, they managed a 5-2 win over Prince George Mohawks. ° Kitimat Merchants also had a successful series at Burns Lake — they placed first on ‘B’ side.
