THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY FROM: ‘OF PORT COQUITLAM Igor Zahynacz, P.Eng. September 11, 1990 City Engineer Russ Mammel, A.Sc.T. Project/Traffic Tech. SUBJECT: Parlcine Restrictions Adjacent to #920 Citadel Drive. RECOMMENDATION: Turn down the request for a 'no parking anytime’ restriction placed adjacent to the driveway letdown to the townhouse complex at #920 Citadel Drive. Request for Parking Restrictions ‘ A request was received to restrict parking adjacent to the driveway out of the above townhouse complex. The reason for this request is because of a sight distance problem for drivers exiting onto Citadel, vhen vehicies are parked close to the driveway. + Existing Parking Regulations The Traffic Regulations Bylaw currently restricts parking for five metres adjacent to driveways into specific property types that generate high traffic volumes. Townhouse and apartment complexes are rint included in this restriction. This request should be turned down, as sight distance problems when exiting a driveway is not sufficient justification to restrict parking. If this restriction is approved, it would be difficult to Curn down Similar requests from other townhouse complexes and home owners, Because of parking shortages throughout the City, parking restrictions in residential areas should be avoided when possible. The portion of Citadel Drive that this driveway is located is on a straight section with a posted speed limit of 50 kmh, The bes solution for these residents is to use caution when entering Citadel.
