Kerr says there is no way to easily track the library applica- tion. Terrace city administrator Bob Hallsor, however, says he | doesn’t think the application has ever been re-instated. The appli- cation needed re-instatement because it was derailed a few years ago when the city applied for a $5 million grant related to a community/convention centre. _ Re-instatement of the library application, however, was prom- ised by city council in July of last year. This promise was announced with a bit of a hitch, though. Even with GO B.C. fund- ing, the regional district was going to have to accept their fair share of about one-third of the project cost. But under the exist- ing funding formula, the regional district would pay less than 20%. This matter, said council, would have to be resolved. And this is about where we sit today. Negotiations on a cost sharing formula continue between the municipality and the regional ~BEDSPREAD SPECIAL! 100% COTTON ~ Queen Reg. $11 9.98 Special $59.99 - Twin Reg. $79.98 Special $39.99 Shams $19.98 Special $9. 99. 2 patterns to choose from Mist/Brume & Blue/Rose . The GO B.C, application, according to Hallsor, is awaiting the successful conclusion of these negotiations hefore the city asks the lotteries branch to re-instate the application. As of Wednesday evening library board chairman Judy Chrysler had been unable to track down the status of the library’s GO B.C, application. Indications from Victoria have been that the current government intends to allocate a greater portion of the lottery funds to health care. The most recent chapter in what could easily become a book on a library shelf someday will be written tomorrow when the regional. board receives for con- sideration a hand-delivered letter from the city dated Feb. 11, 1992. Attached to that letter is a council resolution dated Feb. 10, 1992. The city resolution approves a June, 1992 referendum based on an estimated expansion cost of $1.75 million, on the conditions that GO B.C. covers a third, and the regional district comes up with 30%, GO B.C. will be an unknown for several months, says Kerr. On the other hand, there may be ‘some obscure hints found in yesterday's provincial budget. While we wait, we can still have our referendum, though. According to Hallsor, the result would be valid for a periad of five years, And if the result is a “Yes" vote... Who knows? We may work our way back up the lottery prior- ity list while the referendum result is still valid. — Tod Strachan Kawasaki's range of portable power generators are. tried, trusted and technically superior.
