Is the bulfding of merlt to be preserved, moved or Incorporated Into the proposed development. The second reason Is that the Inventory Is a Ssymbolle gesture by City Counc!!! that herltage and quallty of life are considerations that are taken Into account by the City. A erittque that was ralsed many times during the summer by residents was that It was unfortunate that Aggle Hal! had to be ralsed. The third reason for adopting the Inventory report as an offictal policy Is that the Introductory sections of the report set out a programme of work to be carrled out durlIng the coming years. : . a Designating Clty Hal! and Rolland Lacrosse Box as Heritage Sites under the Herltage Conservation Act, Section !! Is the second recommendation. These two sites are recommended because they are owned by the Clty and there wll! be no question of compensation for potential fost devalopment value. The merit of the ‘two sites for designation are thelr historic role In the communtty as the centre of government and an orlgina! From a pure herltage polnt of new view nelther would qualify. as a provinclally designated site as they both have been Improved over time and are of toca! Slgniflcance for socla! reasons. Furthermore It Is expected That both will! continue to be used and maintained as working public facl!ities rather than static museum pleces. The third recommendation, to Issue a scroll of recognition to the list of bulldings contained In the report !s belng proposed to honour work done by residents of Port Coqultiam to maintaln The bulldings and encourage residents to continue. In addition, It ts hoped this wl!! ralse the level! of Interest In the Clty's history and. lead to projects outside Clty Hall.
