Kirk Ottawa, June 22, 1992 City Administrator City of Port Coquitlam 2580 Shaughnessy Street Por. Coquitlam, B.C. V3C 2A8 Dear Mr. Kirk: Thank you for visiting with us at our WaterCan booth at the Annual Convention of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities in Montreal, We appreciate your interest in our organization and your enthusiasm for our programme was most appreciated. As you now know, the main aspect of our programme is the raising of funds for clean water projects in the developing world. To do this we ask Canadian Municipalities to insert our leaflet once a year in their water bills. Since 1987, 62 municipalities have accepted to participate and the contributions raised, matched by the Canadian International Development Agency, have helped thousands of people of the developing world to gain access to clean water. We do not execute the projects ourselves, but rather distribute the funds to established Canadian agwencies. I would like to seek your help in receiving approval from your city to enclose our leaflet in the water bills, tax notices, or any other mailing to your citizens. WaterCan will provide all the necessary material for the mailing as it is our policy that no participating city or municipality incurs any expense as a result of our programme. Please find enclosed two of our leaflets. You would choose which leaflet is most suitable for Port Coquitlam: ° The unilingual english leaflet which has two panels and weighs 5.0 grams; or, The bilingual pamphlet which has three paneis and weighs 7.5 grams. I will contact you in August to further discuss this matter. I would like to receive your advice on the best way to proceed in order to receive the city's support. If in the meantime you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me at our WaterCan office. Sincerely, Executive Director Encl.
