Lived and worked on and around the mouth of the Pitt River where it runs into the Fraser River. Lifelong involvement with the marine environment and industry (tugboats, fishboats, boom boats, log salvage, water taxis, debris removal and deadhead and beach clean-up). Family home and dock facility (and equipment) located at the mouth of the Pitt River in Port Coquitlam for fifty years. EDUCATION AND Graduated from Terry Fox Senior Secondary in 1966. TRAINING Completed 2nd year in Pre-forestry at UBC. Received Master of Home-Trade Steamship (350 tons) in 1972 and endorsement in 1992. Master of Home Trade Tugboat. Completed a number of courses on fisheries management, including a Hilborn/Walters short -course at UBC. Self-employed on the River. After completing 2nd year of Pre-forestry at UBC, operated the family tugboat company due to father’s ill health. Co-owner of Forrest Marine Ltd., a small marine industry company involved in commercial salmon and herring fishing, marine towing and the sorting, booming and salvaging of logs. Served on the Intemational Pacific Salmon Fisheries Commission from 1°81 to 1985. Member of the Fraser River Panel of the Pacific Salmon Commission since 1985. Past-President and current Director of the Pacific Gillnetters’ Association. Member of the Fraser River Advisory Committee to the Ministry of Fisheries and Oceans since 1980. Secretary-Treasurer to the Westcoast Marine Operators’ Association in 1992. President of the Kilmer Home and School Association in 1978-1979. Member of the B.C. Conference of Parent Advisory Councils from 1989 to 1991. President of the Port Coquitlam Amateur Athletic Association from 1976-1977.
