Clay- ton Walls as IWA Interior Regional Director when more than one hundred: Local Union delegates, guests, wives and friends assembled at the Capri Motor Inn, Kel- owna, May 8, to honor the IWA official and his: wife upon his retirement. The oc- casion also marked his ap- pointment to the post of In- ternational Assistant Director of Organization. The Interna- tional Director of Organiza- tion, Ron Roley, International 2nd Vice-President, and Mrs. Roley were present to add their congratulations, The members of the South- ern Interior Local Unions combined to present the retir- ing Director with a handsome mantel clock, which displayed an engraved plaque record- ing their appreciation. Presi- dent Wm. Schumaker, Local 1-423, who had been closely associated with Bro. Walls in the Kelowna office, praised the indefatigable efforts with which the Director had assist- ed in building membership strength. President A. The presentation, on behalf of the three Local Unions, was made by President Jack Kelly, Local. 1-417, who af- firmed that the growth of the IWA Interior organization was in a large measure due to the able direction of the man he honored. The Local Union presenta- tion was followed by one made on behalf of the IWA Regional Council by Presi- =.. dent Jack Moore. As he un- wrapped a movie projector for Clayton and Mrs. Walls he expressed the Union’s appreciation of the energy and efficiency with which the retiring Director had dis- charged his duties. He ex- tended good wishes for his success in his new Interna- tional post. The guests who were ob- viously enjoying an informal smorgasbord, were also re- galed with amusing stories, told by the speakers, which recalled organizing exploits in which they were associated with the guest of honor.
