The Women’s Auxiliary’ to’
Pearson Hospital and G.F.
Strong Rehabilitation Centre
are holding our annual sale of
memo calenders to raise money
for the needs of the patients of
both institutions, ~

The following isa summary of
the Auxiliary’s function:

At Pearson ate the Polio
victims, and those with Multiple
Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy,
Muscular Distrophy,. and In-
dustrial accidents, as well as
many other illnesses, All these
people will be spending the rest
of their lives in hospital. The
money we raise supplies
medical and office equipment
which the Government budget
does not allow, and such things
as a bus fitted to hold wheel-
chairs, in order that some of the
patients can be taken for drives
{we also pay the -driver).
Electric wheelchairs are
bought for the patients, The cost
of a child's chair last year was
An adult’s is ap-
proximately $1200. Other
contributions include coloured
T.V. sets, movies, and a
projectionist to show them, as
well as other services too
numerous to mention,

Also, many hours .are spent
visiting, writing letters, sewing
on buttons, and wrapping Xmas
parcels in order ta help the
patients with the small tasks
that they are not capable of
doing themselves.

At G.F. Strong Rehabilitation
Centre we supply money for
driver education, hand controls
for paraplegics, artificial limbs
and many other services for
people who are to be
rehabilitated. The majority of
these patients are there as a
result of automobile and
motorcycle accidents,

Nov. 11 Remembrance Day cer-

emony.

The Royal Canadian Legion
announced today that Mrs. An-
derson will place one of six offi-
cial wreaths during the cere-
mony.

Marguerite Neveu of Camp-
bellton, N.B., and Carol Hearn
of St. John’ s, Nfld, for
Canadian youth, “Quebec Judge
Redmond Roche, legion presi-
dent, and a representative of
the prime minister.

Mrs. Anderson’s two sons,
Pte. Vernon Anderson, 20, and
Pte. John Anderson, 24, were
killed in Europe during the war,
Vernon was killed in Italy while
serving with the Princess Patri-
cia’s Canadian Light Infantry.
John was killed in France with

the Queen’s Own Cameron

Highlanders.
