Dear Potters,

It's hard to believe that summer is almost here. There will be no
General Meetings until September. Instead we have something much more
interesting to offer you:

A RAKU PARTY on June 26% at Fred Owen's place at 45687 Mountainview Cres.
in White Rock. In case you get lost phone 531-8118 for directions. Kiln
building starts at 10 a.m. Bring up to 3 pots, none larger than &* x 6".
Use 30% silica sand in any stoneware body and bisque to Cone O4 if poss-
ible. Glaze will be provided. Each person is asked to bring $3.00 to
help pay for glazes, wood for firing etc. Last minute emergency bisquing
will be done at Douglas College at 9 a.m. Thursday June 24%. Bring a
contribution of food for lunch and coffee breaks, also your own plate
cup and cutlery. Phone Nancy Star at 263-0390 to find out what food to
bring. If you saw the slides that Fred showed at the April meeting I'm
sure you won't want to miss this event. Pray for a fine day and we should
all have a grand time.

CERAMICS '76. We had the highest number of entries ever and a great turn-
out for the Opening. Hanna Kristmanson has prepared a detailed report
which is included in this. Newsletter.

_ Brenda Davies has asked me to thank all those people who helped aon that
busy week-end and who looked after the show for the two weeks it was
open.

THE RICHMOND CERAMIC CLUB is presenting their Annual Show at the Richmond
Art Centre, Minoru Gate, to June 12t.

THE SECOND SECTION of the INVITATIONAL SHOW at the House of Ceramics will
open at 7.30 pom. on June 17%.

GOROON THORLAKSSON's show at Gallery 22, West Vancouver, opens at & p.m.
on June 14%,

HABITAT CRAFT FESTIVAL is in full swing. in and around the C.P.R. Station.

THE SIMON FRASER GALLERY has a display of early Navajo rugs, representing
the period from 1850 to 1890. This show will run to June 25t. For Gallery
hours phone 291-4266.

FIRE EXTINGUISHERS: Roger Stribley, who is a member of the Volunteer Fire
Brigade in Lions Bay, reports that he can get them at 25% discount. If
you are interested phone Roger at 921-8025.

INDONESIA and its ART. This is a topic for a talk and slide show to be
given by Jean Fahrni at the Vancouver Art Gallery on August 12% at 8 p.m.
This event is sponsored by the Canadian Society for Asian Art.

TRAVELS by GEORGE: This agency is planning a tour of Mexico in October
which will be of special interest to potters. For information phone :

TOUR _of KOREA and JAPAN: One of our members Mark Pyo, who runs the
Semaul “Travel Service, would like to plan a tour of pottery villages in
Korea and Japan. Mark is well acquainted with many of the top potters in

MICHAEL CARDEW WORKSHOP will be held on August 1st and 2nd. The location
has not been decided yet and notices will be sent out when details have
been finalized.

With all the shows, fairs and festivals I'm sure you are all very busy,
but do take time to come to the Raku Party. Get those pots made now so
you can join in the fun on the 26%.
