/6. September 30th, 1974. Alderman Mabbett stated he felt the City should submit its share to the Hospital Society on the formula basis, and the City Clerk pointed out that the Council had already approved payment of the City's share at its January 28th, 1974 meeting. Alderman Ranger stated he felt the Hospital Society was taking a calculated risk when it hired an Administrator, but that he thought it was worth it even if the City alone has to pay the total amount of the short-fall. Mayor Campbell stated he did not think the proposed hospital was a sure thing, and that if the Administrator left, the Government may say "Lets shelve the Coquitlam Hospital". Alderman Laking pointed out that the larger, adjacent municipalities would benefit the most by having the hospital, and yet they have refused to contribute to the Society's budget short-fall. Alderman Thompson stated the City could stand on point of principle, that is, pay its share and be clear of it, and the City Administrator advised the City's share is only $600.00; Alderman Thompson then commented that it would be wrong to stand on principle and take a chance of losing what we have. Alderman Traboulay stated he wished to withdraw his motion and to this Alderman Thompson, the seconder, agreed. Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That the total amount of the Coquitlam & District Hospital Society's 1974 operating budget short-fall, being $3,000.00, be paid by the City of Port Coquitlam, and that His Worship the Mayor approach the other component areas involved and request them to contribute their share on the Simon Fraser Health Unit cost-sharing basis.
