David emigrated to Canada from:
Ireland with his parents in 1922, at the a

age of three. His. mother: was the -

daughter of Lord and Lady Dunboyne;:
his father was a captain in the

down to where Lindsay's Cartage-and
Storage now is. In 1929 they: moved-to |
Sooke on Vancouver Island.
_ At the age of 19 David got his com-
mercial. flying licence; ‘he was the
youngest person in Canada to hold a
‘commercial licence for light aircraft.
During World War II he joined the Air
Force as a flying instructor, but was ~
later injured in. a car accident that’
smashed up his leg, and-he lost: his.-
commercial flying licence and was: out.’ -

1940 (Mary passed away in’ 1972).
David and‘Mary moved back: to Terrace
and ‘began ‘clearing the. site for the
Water Lily. Bay Resort, which ‘is now
operated by Michael and Melinda, In
