THE CORPORATION OF ThE CITY OF DUNCAN UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE COMMISSION RESEFITS — WHEREAS severe weether conditions have placed an increased number of persons into positions of unemployment ~ and -- WHEREAS undue delays in obtaining U.1I.C. Benefits are being encountered by unemployed persons ~. and ~ WHEREAS certain changes to legislation by the Federal Government during 1971 has resulted in an unfair and inequitable method of deturmining eligibility of applicants for U.I.C. Benefits - and - WHEREAS these problems are causing persons to resort to Social Assistance because of the increased hardships brought to bear; THEREFORE be it resolved: That all municipalities through the Unicn of British Columbia Municipalities petition the Federal Government to increase the efficiency of the Department of Henpower and Immigration in paying out U.I.C, Benefits - and -— 5 . BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Union of British Columbia Municipalities Yvequest the Faderal Government to amend existing legislation by revording that portion pertaining to "Interruption of Earnings" to "Sessonal Layoff or Texmination of Work (employment)" or Both! !
